Back once more!

We've been gone for the last nine days, visiting Disneyland. We had lots of fun too! Now it is back to the job at hand, refreshed both physically and creatively.

While we were gone our crew stayed busy. Matthew was busy fastening the strapping to the curved ceilings in preparation for the plasterwork soon to come. The plywood strapping changes the whole look and feel of the rooms. The living room ceiling is now ready for the lath.

Upstairs one of the bonus rooms is also done. This room is going to be so cool when it is done!

Painting of the exterior trim also continued in our absence and plenty was done there. I'll be posting pictures of that progress soon. Stay tuned...

Trim a little off the top please

Today the Element Spray Foam crew was finished the spraying of the insulating foam. It was time for a little trimming of the extra foam in places they had oversprayed and it was time for a big clean from one end of the house to the other. Ryan and Colin made good time on the first room and then finished the upstairs area before the tend of the day. Right behind then Matt began fastening the strapping in place.

With the finishing of the spray foam the house is noticably quieter than before. As we begin addding insulation and drywall it will get even quieter as we proceed - something we were counting on as we built so close to the road in order to give us the maximum back yard we desired.

Just before noon the engineer came by for an inspection and was delighted with the job they had done. Thanks to the ELEMENT Spray Foam crew for a WONDERFUL JOB! It is starting to REALLY look like a house inside at last!

Starting on the ceilings.

Today we ripped a many more sheets of plywood on the table saw and began attaching it to the ceiling as more backing for the lath and plaster to follow. I learned long ago that any work done on a scaffold generally takes two or three times as long as working with one's feet firmly planted on the ground. It is certainly etrue as we strap the ceilings now as well. Each piece of lumber and everything else must be brought up the scaffold and then screwed in place. Progress is steady if not fast and the vaulted and curved ceilings are starting to look pretty good. This view is from the dining room looking towards the kitchen.

In another ten days or so the ceilings will be ready for the concrete sculpting. That will change everything in a hurry. I can hardly wait!
