Bridge build

Today was another exciting day in the house build. Today was the day we began the finish work on the bridge. I had already carved and precut the pieces. Our job was to do the final trims and fit them in place. With the expert help of the Boughens the work went quickly. We pulled down the temporary railings, added the plywood layer and then the sculpted panels.

In the next days the trim and moldings on the underside of the bridge will be designed and fabricated, making room for the HEICO LED lights that will hide behind the crown moldings.

Stay tuned as it quickly comes together...

Butterfly kisses

Each time I see a butterfly (real or otherwise) I am reminded they are one of Janis' favorite things. Years ago she collected all kinds of butterfly things (never real butterflies). Every birthday and special occasion was celebrated with such a gift. Eventually she asked me to stop for there were getting to be a great many butterfly things around the house.

With the new house the butterfly collection is rapidly growing once more with thousands of butterflies magically appearing, built into the interior trim of the house at every turn. Like years ago, each and every one is an I love you. It is not possible for there to be too many.

Piles of tiles!

Yesterday a giant truck pulled up in front of the new house. This was exciting for in it were five pallets of ceramic tile for the floor - almost two tons in all! The forklift brought each pallet close to the front door and then we began the tough task of packing it inside. Another exciting stage of the house construction has begun!
