CABINETS!

The get ready activity continued through the day. Any area of the walls near or over the soon to be installed cabinets was triple checked and touched up as necessary. In this shot Bec is tweaking the cut line around the tree. The hutch cabinets will soon crowd this area.

I had to run into town to get some more paint just after lunch. When I returned the big truck from Marr-tech Kitchens was pulled up to the front door. Four strong guys were carrying in the cabinet boxes, placing them in the appropriate room.

It didn't take long for them to empty the big truck and another van they had brought full of cabinet boxes. The last few pieces will arrive tomorrow. Janis took a great deal of delight as we went from room to room checking them out. It is one thing to design a kitchen, bathrooms, hutch, desks and pantries on paper - quite another to see all the pieces for real.

Tomorrow and Thursday the installation crew will put everything into it's rightful place. Few things finish a house as quick as the installation of the cabinets. Stay tuned for more...

Ready for cabinets

Yesterday and today there was a flurry of activity in the house as we prepared for the cabinets which arrive later today. Grout lines in the floor were sealed, walls recieved their last coat of paint and a general cleaning and reorganization of the house took place. There is a mountain of cabinets to be moved into the house and the folks from Marr-Tech Kitchens need lots of room to do their work.

Wednesday and Thursday the house will again change in a big hurry as the beautiful cabinets and desks go into nine rooms of the house.

The house progress seems to be gathering steam as we go into the last stretch of the finishing work. It is very exciting! Stay tuned for progress reports...

Lighting the way

Today Ryan, the electrician finished hooking up the many connections in the electrical room. The LED's under the hand rail of the stairs inside the giant tree would be the first to get turned on for testing. It only took a few minutes to string the contactless Heico LED modules onto the wire and then glue them up into position in the cavity molded under the handrail.

Ryan flipped the switch and the stairs were instantly lit perfectly as I had imagined. It was pure magic.

Looking down from the top of the stairs it is just as cool.

The Heico Lighting LED's will be dimmable so the perfect light will serve to allow night access to the stairs by our guests. the next item in the stairway will be the handrail. I'll finish welding the steel handrail in place and then sculpt around the steel structure to make it look like a tree branch.

It is all starting to come together.
