Endless detail

Everyone is busy in the house putting up layer after layer of detail. There is no simple or fast way to build a house like this. In the kitchen the cabinet installer is here to fasten in the last of the trim. The curved window valences are now in place along with the final crown moldings. Most of the bright pink is now hidden but what remains contrasts beautifully with the linen cabinets. It is pretty cool! We are so pleased with the work that Marr-Tech Kitchens has done in the house!

Brent Boughen is working hard in the living room on the challenging crown molding that belts the room and goes around the large circular window. It is a tricky job to make everything look right! The hanging wires are for the built in speakers and the Heico LED lighting that will shine above the crown moldings.

By next week we will be down to final painting in these areas. Once that is done the last step will be to lay the tile floors. The quartz countertops arrive in the middle of next week. Everything is quickly coming together!

Secret bridge - deck done!

The finishing carpenters chase me though the house as I try my best to keep ahead of them. Today's task was to build a curved structure so the bridge deck would arch upwards about four inches over it's sixteen foot length. I then screwed another layer of plywood in place and laid the wood laminate flooring to make it all pretty. As per usual I had about twenty other things on the go through the day but with a little extra time after supper I managed to polish it off. It looks pretty cool!

Tomorrow I'll cut some curved trim for the edges of the deck and then it is time for some railing work. Soon it will be time to bring all of Phoebe's things to her room.

Light from above

After supper I spent a little time in the house admiring the fancy new trim. I couldn't resist putting up a few LED lights in the crown moulding. As always the magic was instant when I turned them on.

Even with only a quarter of the Heico LED lights installed the ambiance of the dining room instantly and dramatically changed. The living room will get the very same treatment too. Stay tuned...
