Concept to Reality

We draw many concept art pieces each year. They have multiple purposes. These initial drawings need to sell our ideas of course. The customer looks at the artwork and then has to be able to visualize the final result. The concept art needs to build the trust to allow us to proceed. We also use the concepts to figure out how we will build the project and to calculate how much it will cost to construct. Sight lines, lighting and construction materials are all decided at this early stage. Then the actual build begins with the lofty goal of making the final result look even better than what we first imagined.

Boardroom magic

Some time ago we were afforded a unique opportunity to theme a company boardroom. The owner of the business had been in our studio a number of times and promised us that when the time was right we would do his boardroom. That time came about a year later. He gave us licence to design something cool with few limits. The company sold CNC machines and we designed a boardroom that would showcase the creative things you could do with the equipment. We called it the submarine room, inspired by the classic movie 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Although the room was fabricated of wood and Precision Board high density urethane it appeared to be rusty steel. Company branding was subtly placed more than fifty times through the room. The boardroom was featured in many publications and garnered multiple national and international awards. On seeing the room prospective clients were instantly sold on what these marvellous CNC machines could do.

Quick install

The new MultiCam Western Canada office opens on Friday. That meant it was time to make a special delivery today. Grant and I loaded the truck with the sign and tools and we headed out this afternoon. When we got there I measured things up and located the studs on the wall. I then fastened the bracket to the wall and we lifted the sign into position. In about five minutes the job was done! Kelsey was all smiles as we loaded the tools back into the truck and drove away.
