Home again, home again...

This morning I was up super early and boarded the plane home from New York at last. It was good to teach the class there and real fun to see the BIG Apple (a first for me) but it sure felt good to see my beloved British Columbia mountains again.

The crew worked hard in my absence and accomplished plenty. The priming is now done through the house and the minor nicks and deficiencies in the drywall all patched up and sanded smooth. The next coat of paint will start first thing in the new week. As soon as I got in the door this afternoon we started discussing and making final decisions about the colors we would use through the house. I'll pick up the colored paint tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing the colors on the walls! Here's a shot of the living room with the primer finished. Thanks for a great job Matt!!

While I travelled I dreamed of and figured out exactly how we would create the crown molding trim through the living room and hallway. Janis and I will make the final decision about the profile early this week.

Sarah and Hailey were obviously busy in the time they spent in the house this week. They are applying the many coats of glaze to the tree stairway. It still has a ways to go but what they did looks spectacular! The layers of glaze really enhance the heavy woodgrain which we carved into the sculpted concrete. I'll be starting work on the LED lighting under the hand rail this coming week. I'll also be welding in the armature for the handrail through the staircase as well. Once that is in place we will sculpt the banister to look like a knarly old branch.

With each passing day we are getting ever more excited to finally move in. It is starting to feel real at last!

Stay tuned for more progress this coming week...
