We use a variety of concrete mix formulas which depend on what we are seeking to accomplish. For sculpting detailed wood grain we use a super fine sand mix which allows effortless carving using small, delicate tools. We achieve subtle textures by carving with a variety of tools to mimic the various woodgrains. Bricks, rocks and bark require coarse sand to be mixed in. As we sculpt, the stones peel out leaving a rough texture and small holes throughout. As we paint and glaze the cured concrete the darker glazes stay in the deeper recesses further revealing the magic we seek.
