Shop shuffle

When we built our shop we had no idea of the type of work we would do years or even decades later. We simply made everything as big as the budget would allow and hoped for the best. In those days we delivered the bulk of what we made so I made the driveway in front of the shop big enough to make a U-turn in one go with the trailer hooked onto the truck. These days we seldom do the deliveries as the projects are too large and often much too distant to be practical. That means we need enough room to store the ready projects, have a semi-truck with trailer back in and still have room enough to set up a crane as well. Although it has been tight at times. we have managed all that plus up to three 40’ sea containers as well. The four giant pieces of robot were pulled from the shop today, setting them to one side to ensure enough room for the semi-truck and trailer along with the crane. The driveway is now much fuller than before but the shop is suddenly luxuriously spacious. Before we moved the in-process pieces back inside we did a wall to wall sweep and blew out the dust for good measure. Now we are ready to go at new projects once again. Stay tuned for progress…
