It is always exciting to begin a new feature. As always it starts with a sturdy welded steel structure to ensure we can work on it and transport it safely and that the feature will last a lifetime after it is installed. The little dragon is ten feet tall but has a relatively small footprint. This meant the structure has lots of cross bracing to keep it upright. The bottom frame will be bolted to a large footing. The structural steel is now done, save for the neck. I’ll weld up the pencilled armature of the head before we weld on the neck. Then it will be time to build the body armature. Stay tuned…
