We love to push the limits with our work. It is a necessity in our business as we often do what hasn’t been done before. That is what being creative is all about. To do so we often have to work with our suppliers, figuring our what might work and what won’t. It is an awesome thing to sit down with these great people and talk about the things we are doing and what we would like to do in the future. I recently chatted with the fellow who makes the tooling for our CNC router. Because we are cutting highly dimensional pieces we often face limits with what is possible. And Jay Vanlet of X-EDGE tools most often has the perfect solution or will happily invent a solution for us. He sent us some awesome new tapered bits that he and Jim Dawson (who also does great dimensional work with his machine) had designed. These bits solved a lot of difficult challenges for us! In our discussion I talked with Jay about two current challenges. Our plywood cutting wasn’t going as well as we would like. He had a bit that would solve that difficulty. My second challenge was how to cut our extra deep pieces from 30 lb Precision Board. Our current bit does the job but we were looking for a better solution. He told me he would work on that and I knew it wouldn't be long until I heard back from him. Today, he contacted me to inform me that he had designed a new longer three flute tool that should solve my dilemma and that the tool would soon be on it’s way. That’s the kind of supplier I absolutely LOVE and one I highly recommend!
