We were delighted to hear of the opening of the How To Train Your Dragon area at the MotionGate Park in Dubai a few days ago. All reports I've heard are positive, as they should be, for this entire area is truly spectacular! I was searching online today and came across the first pictures I've seen of the finished area. The pictures were taken by David Arnold, www.MEthemeparks.com and used here with his kind permission. Imagination Corporation built the two Viking ships and two target sculptures. All of the work around the ships was done by other companies.
Setting sail for Dubai
It was all about Viking ships for the first half of last year as we welded at the heavy frames and then sculpted the plentiful pieces of the two ships, the two targets and various other bits. The schedule was tight and it didn't allow us the luxury of fitting the ships together in our yard when the everything was done. The last we saw of the ships was as they were loaded into shipping containers and sent on their way to Dubai. Our contract did not allow us to go to assemble them and we thought we would never see them complete.
But things change and tomorrow morning I start my journey to the Middle East to do a little consultation as the final pieces go together. It seems I will see the completed and assembled Viking ships after all. This is going to be fun!
When Ships Fly
Today, the bulk of the second Viking ship took to the air as it started its journey to Dubai. The forty foot sections were quite a sight as they floated into their containers.
This has been a great project and we have enjoyed working with Whitewater West immensely. I can hardly wait to see the ships installed in their final location.
But for now, it is time to re-group and get ready for our next big adventure.
