The incredible shrinking rolling pin

The signs we make look so very large in our studio as we build them. They take up a lot of room there! When they are finished we roll them outside and they seem to shrink a little. Then we transport them and lift them into their final position and they suddenly shrink even more. The Pie Barn rolling pin sign did all of that in a hurry as we lifted it into place. It sits on the sloping porch roof over the barn entry. The porch posts are about twelve feet apart and the ceiling is very high, elevating the sign above the viewer substantially. The barn behind it is massive which quickly establishes the scale. Even so the sign looks great and fits perfectly.

All aboard!

The Vala family was absolutely delighted with the Pumpkin Creek Rail Road sign. The train, a guest favourite, is named after grampa Ernest Vala and the sign closely mimics the real thing. It’s a playful, ‘slightly cartoonized’ version of the real thing. Alyssa spent many hours making sure every detail was perfect as she applied the paint and all that effort was truly appreciated by the family.

Fits like a glove - on purpose

The landscaping around a sign in my opinion can multiply the effectiveness of its message. The folks at Vala’s Pumpkin Patch seem to really understand how this works. We designed each of the signs to fit into existing planters or they built new planters around where the signs were to go. The Pie Barn sign is one of the best examples.
