Our workshop is overflowing with livestock of late as we sculpt and paint the animal heads which will adorn two new attractions at Kraay’s Family farm. Alyssa works on these two sheep heads which are to be soon attached to the front hoods of the small roller coaster cars. The attraction is appropriately named ‘MUTTON BUSTERS’ and should be a real thrill for the younger kids as they scream around the undulating track on the farm.
This little pig is going to the farm
We are down to the last full week of work on the Kraay Family Farm project, so we are down to the final details. We’ve sculpted two large animal heads which will be placed poking out of the upper windows of a ticket booth that will look like a tall skinny barn. Our client is busy building that structure while we work on the signs and embellishments. The pig needs his eyes, the background panel painted, and one more dark glaze to enhance the deeper skin folds. Behind the pig, the waterwheel base is almost complete and will likely be rolled out of the shop on Tuesday morning. Other pieces of the Kraay project are in their final stages and will be completed with a few days to spare before shipping.
No more sleeps!
The morning began with grey skies and a light drizzle as we prepared for the Hazelnut Inn’s grand opening and OPEN house. A few people wisely decided to watch the parade from the sidewalk in front of the Inn. As the last parade float passed a line immediately materialized by the gate with throngs of guests eager to get a peek inside. The lineup stretched far down the sidewalk within minutes, even though our advertised opening wasn’t until noon. We swung open the gates at 10:30 and guests began filing through trying their best to soak in every detail of the North Star suite. The line never stopped until just after 5:00 pm - with more than thirteen hundred delighted people having gone through. The Hazelnut Inn is now open!
