Endless welding

By the time we finish building the armature for the pumpkin coach just over one thousand feet of pencil rod will have been formed and welded into place. It is looking much more like a pumpkin already. When the armature is finished we will tie on the diamond lath and then begin applying the fibreglass-reinforced concrete and sculpting in the detail. This will be an exquisite piece when we are finished. Stay tuned…

Almost ready for your wish

The painting crew is almost done creating their magic on the wishing well which will soon be bound for the storybook area of Vala’s Pumpkin Patch in Nebraska. They only have the final two glazes on the log support posts. By week’s end, this piece will join other completed features in the parking lot's staging area. We are working full blast on the rest of Vala’s delights in the workshop. Stay tuned for more progress…

Steel magic

There is hardly a workday when we aren’t using our FastCut CNC plasma cutter to create metal parts for our work. Sometimes it is a simple bracket or mounting plate, but most often it is something much fancier. One of the many projects this past week was the three giant flower light standards for the Storybook Garden at Vala’s Pumpkin Patch in Nebraska. We used the CNC plasma to cut the base and joining plates for the sections of the stem plus the giant, curved steel leaves. Keith welded and ground the pieces before welding the sections together. We are waiting for the delivery of the acrylic light globes before we cut and assemble the flowers at the top. The giant flower lights will add even more magic to this beloved area of the farm.
