The grand journey has begun!

Matt & I have been counting the days until our departure to Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. This morning, it was time to load the Jeep and head to the airport at long last. Our goal is to make this research trip as stress-free as possible while still having lots of fun and experiencing many new things along the way. We arrived plenty early to grab a meal and sort through ticketing and security. Now, we’ve snagged window seats in the terminal to watch our plane arrive and then begin the real journey to Japan. It's a ten-and-a-half-hour flight to Haneda airport, through security, and then ride the transit system to our hotel. The grand adventure has begun!!!

Care Bear fever

The painting crew was in full force today and managed to brush on a whole lot of paint. The large curved roof section of the NEB’s wall got its blend coat. When the crew was done, it caused me to have a flashback to the long-ago days when Becke was collecting Care Bears as a kid… pastel shades of every colour! But there is no cause for alarm as this will instantly change with the start of the blue glazes tomorrow. Stay tuned…

Two more sleeps!

We are currently experiencing a week of severe (for us) winter weather. With the freezing temps, blowing snow and howling winds, we are happy to be hunkered down in the nice warm shop - the perfect place for painting. There’s no shortage of surfaces to splash on the paint, with six large NEB’s wall panels in various stages of finish, from bare to ready to glaze. The entire painting crew will descend on the panels tomorrow and for the balance of the week. The goal is to finish these panels and have the shop cleared for a fresh new batch of work before Matt and I return from Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea. Matt will join the painting crew for one day while I tidy up some designing and office work before we head off Wednesday morning. Happily, the weather in Tokyo is a whole lot warmer! Two more sleeps…
