Tony had his hands full mixing enough of our special concrete mud to keep Matt supplied as they worked on sculpting the exterior skin of the giant pumpkin today. The result looks fabulous! Now, this piece is ready for us to begin welding the armature for the pumpkin eater seated on top. That work starts tomorrow. Stay tuned…
Lock 'er up!
It is great fun with a whole lot of effort to work on our imaginative projects. They are all based on stories we joyfully bring to life. Our efforts begin with the big strokes, and as the projects proceed, we gradually turn our efforts to the small details. The Under Hill Suite is nearing completion, and we are down to those smaller things. Everything has to work together to look great and function perfectly. Now that the big construction is complete, it is time to freshen up the doors and install the permanent lock mechanisms. Peter first made the tiny hinge adjustments to align the doors. This was no easy task with the curved joint between the two doors. He then fits the new locks, which are high-tech and can be remotely programmed to provide a secure experience for each guest. The painting crew will finally touch up the finishes and add a little last-minute magic. It is exciting as we count down to the open house on June 7th…. stay tuned…
Momma
Mary Oostenbroek The last months have been full of introspection as my mom struggled through her last days. She lived to be ninety-three years old. She always reached out on special occasions and every member of the family could count on a knitted touque or sweater on our birthdays in the years when knitting was her passion.
Recently, I’ve been digging deep into the long-ago memories of my formative years. I happily recall the joyful times, of which there were many. Mom took great care of us, and my parents were the envy of most of my friends. She worked so hard to provide for us. I thankfully remember how she encouraged my art career in those early years and the decades since. I’m thankful for a loving mom and a wonderful childhood. I’ll miss her.
