THINKING INSIDE THE BOX

Box

This week we took delivery of a shiny new air compressor for the shop. It came complete with an air dryer. The compressor had been on my wish list for years and I sure was glad to get it at long last!

When the truck driver rolled up the door in his big delivery truck I was delighted to see a HUGE wooden crate inside. While I was still very excited about the compressor inside I immediately had the perfect use in mind for the large wooden box. I took the crate apart carefully and then after I installed my new compressor I reassembled the box. Then I waited for Phoebe.

Her eyes got as big as the box when she saw it and she immediately knew how we could use it. Together we marked out the door and windows, then used the jigsaw to cut them out. We also some shelves and installed them inside - one for a desk and one for storage. After sizing it up Phoebe insisted the house have a REAL roof - not the flat top of the box. Luckily my dad (phoebe’s great grampa) arrived just then to give me a hand. Phoebe directed the action from a distance and declared it PERFECT when we were done.

But plain old wood would never do. Momma and Phoebe selected some colors and set to work. It will be a thing of beauty before they are done. The house will undoubtably provide countless hours of fun for Phoebe while in the workshop.

It’s a happy day in Yarrow...
