I believe I’m no different than most people. A deadline, real or imagined is a great motivator.

Back in late June, a customer brought me a golf cart and asked me to turn it into a miniature tow truck. They were in no hurry. My deadline was November 1, so they had time to paint it before the Christmas parade which happens December 4. I started on the project right away and made good progress too. Then we got busy.

Tonight it is October 31. Tomorrow afternoon they come to pick up the truck. It will be ready, but just by a whisker.

The funny thing is that I’d bet good money that on December 3 the crew who owns the truck will be busy and working late too, getting it ready for the Santa Clause parade which happens the next day. Only the names change on these type of things. :)
