MORE TEXTURE...

The texture continues to the dimensional pictorial. First I did the rough shaping and then the texturing - using a variety of strokes, depending on the final look I wanted. The rocks and snow of the mountain were irregular and broad, the treed hills were covered with short vertical strokes. Then I sculpted in the fields of crops using little balls of epoxy, all to a single vanishing point for the most dramatic effect.

The end result was very cool with seven and a half inches of depth in the graphic. All the textures work together to create a wonderful effect - even without any paint.

Tomorrow the real fun begins. I have one more chance to fine tune the textures with the heavy bodied primer we use. We apply it with a brush of course - every stroke a chance to smooth or add a new shadow to the finished sign. Then with the color and glazes each ripple will be shown to its fullest advantage.

Stay tuned to Yarrow...
