We’ve all driven by countless signs without giving much thought of what it takes to make them. While we certainly use machines and fancy tools in our shop to make things go faster there is still plenty of hand work to be done especially in the finishing and painting department. I made good progress on the sign today, painting the dimensional graphic and double coating the borders while it was drying.

I had a lot of fun for it’s a job I enjoy immensely. All the hard work of the past days suddenly becomes complete with the simple act of brushing on dabs of color and then apply a subtle glaze to tie it all together in an instant. Now the sign will cure before I apply a size to the letters with a brush and then gently apply 23K gold leaf to them. I can hardly wait for the final look that only real gold can provide.
