Sometimes I feel almost guilty for we get the very coolest projects in our shop. Today a big flat deck towing truck backed up our driveway and dropped off this sad looking golf cart. Mechanically sound the cart body was a little worse for wear.
No fear though for we are about to change that for the better. Our task is to transform it into a diminutive antique tow truck. A local towing company wants to use it in parades and as a sidewalk sign in front of their business. Over the next weeks we will carefully disassemble it down to a bare chassis, then craft a new body patterned after a 1930’s tow truck complete with a hand operated winch on the boom. I’ll be gathering the various parts I need in the next week, then build the rest from scratch. Our client will do the final body work and painting for he owns a shop that specializes in this type work. The lights will work of course along with an old fashioned ah-oo-ga horn.
It’s time for some fun in the shop... but not before one long and happy cruise around the neighborhood with Phoebe...
