Almost 18 months ago I issued a CHALLENGE to my sign making friends and acquaintances around the world. The challenge was to do at least one sign in the next year for themselves. The sign was to challenge their own abilities and skills. It was to have been the kind of sign they wanted to do in the future and would showcase their abilities to their customers. In our shop we upped the ante and created one each month.

I documented the construction process of each sign and wrote about it, both here on the journal and in articles in the sign trade magazines. A number of the signs we made were honored with top international awards. The CHALLENGE also inspired many great creations in other shops.

Now, eighteen months later, I still hear of wonderfully creative signs currently in construction. From time to time folks send me pictures of these projects.

Today I received word of another six page feature article in a Ukrainian Sign magazine that broadcast this challenge once more to that part of the world. It made me smile!

It is exciting to see just how far my little CHALLENGE is traveling. It is my hope it brings those who respond travel one step closer to doing the type of work they dream of.
