Today we took the last of the pieces off the router and began assembling the Lark Rise sign. I welded up a sturdy steel structure for inside the post and sign and then laminated the carved Precision Board high density urethane around it, making for one very tough sign and post. There were many pieces and the sign came to life as we glued on piece after piece. It looks massive in the studio but I know , as always, it will magically shrink when we install it, looking exactly as planned when it is in place.
Now the hand work starts, shaping and finishing before we start in on the paint and 23K gold leaf work next week. This sign is going to look spectacular in its permanent setting!
