The Rube Goldberg element of my Sign Challenge piece is the next on the agenda. The piece is a statement about two issues long lamented by sign makers universally. In the old days snappers would cruise from town to town snapping up the choice jobs. The other bone of contention is the mechanization of sign making and the introduction of computers. In this piece the rocket man is our snapper and he will be taking orders which he sends off to his sign painting robot whose arms stretch out from the side of the rocket. One hand holds a can of paint, the second deftly wields a brush and a third hand steadies the vehicle being painted. It is a mechanical marvel!
