The TOP SECRET build is coming along very nicely. We had three welders going today which makes for some substantial progress in a hurry. There is a whole lot of structure steel in this piece without a doubt. The main frame was fabricated using half inch thick 4” x 4” square tubing. There was a ton of complex cutting and fitting to make everything go together perfectly plus we bevelled all of ends of the heavy structural pieces to make sure the multi-pass welds were good and strong. The lifting and tie down eye bolts along with the necessary supporting structure are all securely welded into place. The main structure is now complete, with the bulk of the form blocked out with many hundreds of feet of hand formed pencil rod. While Peter and I are finishing off the form Matt is following behind and filling in the missing rods. One more day of welding and we will be able to begin tying on the galvanized mesh. The mystery feature is definitely an extremely large piece, measuring well over thirty feet along the top edge of the spine. This is going to be a definite traffic stopper when it is trailered on a lowboy to its final destination.
