From time to time (and especially before Christmas) personal projects appear in the shop. Matt was building a new entry table as a present for his lovely wife Mindy. He had a cool slab of live edge wood as the starting point. We also had some small tree shaped offcuts that we had cut out of some brackets we had made for our neighbor Gord (another personal project) Those tree offcuts inspired some larger pieces for the table. Mat and Mindy love the outdoors and so trees were a natural theme. It didn’t take long to design the table legs (with Matt art directing. The necessary steel bits were quickly cut on the plasma cutter and then Matt spent much of the day fitting, welding and grinding up the pieces. I was called on to hold pieces steady on occasion as Matt tacked things together but Matt did the lion’s share of the actual work. The table tuned out fabulous!!
