It was just Matt and I in the shop today. We fit and welded two of the drum ring panels in place this work day. Once the outer skin is in place the top of the second ring will measure just over four feet tall and that will make it difficult to climb into the centre space to work on the drum. So instead of tacking all of the panels in place we opted to fit and completely weld each panel individually which means we can duck under the top ring until the last panel is welded on. Matt and I fit the heavy panels together as a team because they are much too heavy for just one of us to handle them solo. Once fitted and tacked, Matt welded things up securely while I went back to the drumstick, to complete the welding. Less than an hour on the grinder tomorrow will make it ready to haul out of the shop tomorrow. Stay tuned…
