Work continues on the Hazelnut Inn on many fronts. With every single piece being custom there is no going to the store and picking up what we need. Everything is being made from scratch. The doors to the service area (water heaters, staff laundry, and storage) are currently in production. The doors are 2 1/4” thick fir. Peter routed pockets into the doors for the “locking gears” and steel filigree bands. Then he gently sand blasted the wood to bring out the edge grain. The painting crew is now staining the wood and after assembly we will age the steel. Matching shutters are also being fabricated. Once installed this will bring the second area to lockup and interior finishing.
