Building a hot rod from scratch is all about patience it seems. Today my goal was to install the new shifter. It looked like a really easy install - until I started measuring things up. The brake pedal assembly was suddenly two inches too far back and two inches too close to the shifter. That meant this assembly had to be cut off and relocated. Moving the brake pedal and master cylinder meant some other things required adjusting as well. The engine and transmission now needed to be moved two inches towards the rear of the vehicle. Four hours of cutting, grinding, fabricating and welding later I could finally do the ‘quick’ install of the shifter. It worked like a charm! With all of the fabricating done, the body could again be installed, hopefully for the last time. At long last I could take a look at the car fully assembled and sitting at the correct height. The airbag suspension looks nice and neat. The next big project is building some custom headers and pipes. That should be fun! Stay tuned…
