The weekends are for personal projects rather than paying work. That meant it was time to do a little fabricating on the Overland hot rod. Today, it was designing and building all the shock absorber mounts. With the CNC plasma cutter handy, the making of the many parts took less time than the designing which went pretty fast. Welding the brackets up and bolting on the shocks into place didn’t take long either. And so another major project got stroked off the list. I then moved on to starting the install of the new hand brake cables but when I took off the rear rotors to hook things up I discovered the hand brake shoes and actuators were missing. That’s what you get when you buy used a used rear end from a wrecking yard. Someone must have grabbed those parts before I got there… but no problem, for they most likely would have been replaced anyway. I’ll put the new hand brake shoes in when I redo the rotors and callipers. The hot rod is a whole lot more stable and a whole lot less bouncy with the shiny new shocks in place!
