HOW-TO? STEP FIVE SCULPTING WITH MOLDING EPOXY

Sculpting

The epoxy sculpting medium we use is similar to the Plasticene we all played with as kids, The only difference is this stuff gets as hard as a rock in a few hours. The sculpting medium is first shmooshed onto the surface and then shaped after whetting my fingers and tools with water. Once the basic shape is done I then work in the details using various tools, with an ordinary sharpened stick being my favorite.

I like to work from the top down so as to not mess up what is already completed. The sculpt can be stopped at any stage and then resumed as time permits. Anything left will turn to rock hard in a few hours however, so the epoxy already put in place needs to be finished before your time is done.

We’ll pick up from this stage on the next installment from Yarrow...
