Barking up the tree

Even though our crew is smaller these days, we made great progress on the bridge apple tree. Grant mixed and delivered the mud while Peter and I slathered it onto the armature. Becke gave Peter and I a hand to carve in the endless bark bits and by early afternoon we were done the lower section of the tree. On Monday we’ll hook up the forklift and bring the top section down onto the stand I built last week. It is much faster and way more practical to work closer to the ground whenever possible. While we build the upper branches Grant and Becke will begin the painting of the lower section. It won’t go together again until it arrives in Nebraska in a couple of months.
