This morning Henry was very eager to go for a tractor ride with grampa. I agreed. Henry insisted we ride on the blue tractor first… which meant we had to go through the shop to get it out. But as soon as I unlocked the shop door he suddenly had a different agenda. Henry wanted to go to work instead. The hammer ( a tool we had used earlier this week) was old news as was the push broom and dust pan. Henry desperately wanted to learn a new tool. And for the first time he suddenly understood that the giant toolboxes in the shop were full of SO MANY wonderful tools. He was absolutely right. As he explored the various drawers in the lower cabinets he would ask me what each tool was called and then what did it do? Then, of course, we had to try it out. I suspect we may have lit a lifelong fire.
