We finished welding and grinding the top half of the drum this morning. We decided it would be best to pull it from the shop on it’s edge. ‘Slow and easy’ were the marching orders and it went without a hitch. Then it was time for the large half of the drum to be tipped vertical. We had to use the forklift as our lifting beam with the chain fall crane was two feet too low. Our plan worked perfectly. With the forklift as a backstop and the large piece securely tied off we started the final welding. By mid-morning tomorrow we should be ready to tip it back down and take the last half of the drum out of the shop for the last time. We’ll fabricate the heavy duty supports tomorrow, just in time for the test fit on Thursday. Stay tuned…
