The Tlicho Highway sign wail be all welded steel construction. The support structure is a stylized teepee design made from four and a half inch OD steel pipes. These will be welded to a steel reinforced, concrete filled base which will act as support and ballast as it is placed on the permafrost ground. The structure is relatively simple but still needs to be exact to fit all of the pieces and look right when it is installed onsite. We will build the entire structure horizontal in the shop before removing it from the shop and then tipping it vertical to pour the concrete. Once that sets we’ll be tipping it back down for shipping in one piece. Installation on site in the far north will be relatively quick and easy.
