The flood situation locally is slowly improving but far from over. Many have suffered greatly, some losing everything. Because of limited access to our community we’ve heard stories of gas stations with no fuel, and grocery stores with empty shelves. In the midst of the troubling stories we are also hearing of so many people who are helping care for their neighbours. So many people are coming together to make the best of a very tough situation. Becke posted this story earlier today…
‘So, a gal who was evacuated was able to view her driveway remotely from a security camera. She would periodically post pictures of the view to our community group so that other evacuated neighbours could be assured that the area was still dry. Then, it wasn't. The next pictures had water creeping across the field in the distance, and then across the road, and then into her driveway. She could only watch helplessy from afar. But then she posted another picture, and captioned it in tears. Because now, her driveway held a team of townsfolk in gumboots, with trucks full of sandbags to lay around her home.’
This is the community I love and am proud to call home!
