The question is, how can you celebrate Christmas in the shop? And the answer course is NEW TOOLS! We purchased our first hand held plasma cutter back when we were building our shop in 2003. It served us well for many, many years and we’ve cut miles of steel with it. Lately though, the old plasma has been giving us some grief. We looked into having it refurbished, but it wasn't an inexpensive option, and the wait times to get it back were lengthy. So we decided instead to gift the old machine to an appreciative friend who was just starting a new enterprise and we splurged on a shiny new machine. Amazingly, the new plasma cutter was about the same money as we spent on the first machine so long ago. It is about one third of the size and much more capable than the first machine, which was state of the art when we bought it. I couldn’t resist pulling the Hypertherm out of the box and hooking it up today but sadly it will sit idle until we get back to work in the new year. We’ve got some very exciting new projects with which to put it to work!
