The main pieces of the Sy’ls Drive Inn sign looked big as we fit and welded them up last week. As we started assembling them today the sign became massive in a hurry. It measures just over fifteen feet tall. We sure appreciated the exactness of all the bolt holes as we fit and bolted the pieces together! CNC machining certainly aids that process! The pipe fitting is all done by hand with lots of careful measuring and eyeballing to make sure everything stays in line. There are no right angles on this project. Tomorrow, we’ll be working on the giant oval with more lettering which will be all hand work as well. It is a lot of fun to watch this project come together!
