Most often I don’t get to work on our projects from start to finish. I do much of the design, the structure and then less and less as it goes through various stages in our shop. It is most efficient to allow everyone else to do their part and they are very good at it too. Together, we do so many amazing projects. The Sign Invitational is one chance each year for me to do a project from first inkling through to the finish. These projects aren’t large and the deadlines are nice and long as well. With the Rowdy Raven sign now mostly under control I decided to turn my attention to the Tottering Tortoise sign. In the last couple of weekends I did the base coats of colour - a neutral off-white. I decided to approach the glazing on this piece in much the same fashion as I colour my concept drawings. I start with the very lightest shades and colours and gradually work though to the brightest and then the darkest. Today, I began with the yellow.
