Rust explosion

Matt painted the little car three coats of a light shade of blue. Henry looked it over and approved. I painted the chrome trim but we wanted to make it look old rather than shiny and new. Today, I started applying the rust patina. It looked blotchy at first so I kept going - four colours of rust in all. When I finished the car looked like it had been abandoned and sitting behind a barn for many decades. There was very little blue paint left visible. It is definitely over the top. I’ll let it dry thoroughly overnight and then take another look in the morning. The chrome will get some silver paint brushed back on to brighten it up. The headlights will be painted to look more real. Then I may just start putting some blue paint back on the car to make it a little less abandoned looking. Stay tuned…
