The in-between stones were on the menu today. Matt and Peter troweled on the custom mix of the fibreglass-reinforced-concrete. By the time they had finished troweling, the warm summer temperatures had begun to start the curing of the cement. Three of us worked quickly to sculpt in the detail. The archway looked a little odd with the stripe pattern caused by the different stages of curing bit it looks very cool already! Next week we’ll lift the top portion of the arch off so we can finish the sculpting of the last block, the lion and the heavy vine that winds around the piece. The feature will not be assembled again until it arrives at its permanent home. Stay tuned for that entire process…
