The two curved gantry towers are now fully welded. The idea is to make the I-beams look much more substantial than they really are. We did this by making the web two and a half inches thick and the flanges one and a half inches thick. To put together the two pieces we ran just over fifty lineal feet of weld. Tomorrow we’ll put in the cross member to hook the two pieces together. Then it is on to fabricating the submarine. Stay tuned…
