The workshops we host aren’t the kind where students sit around and listen to boring lectures for hours on end. Theory is important and I do give some short lectures but the bulk of the time is spent with everyone getting their hands dirty. Through three long days our attendees design multiple projects, and then build them. The projects aren’t large but they do involve every step of our creative process. One sculpting project involves welding a detailed steel armature, attaching the lath and then mixing, applying and sculpting our magical mix of fibreglass reinforced concrete. The result is always amazing, as our guests accomplish far more than they thought possible, especially in a relatively short time frame. We are almost ready for the fun to begin…
