Welding the Great Wall

Each day we make great progress prefabricating the structural frames for the NEB’s Fun World entry. Each section is first built as a structural frame which needs to be exact to ensure a perfect fit when it is assembled on site. This frame needs to be strong enough to hold the heavy concrete as we sculpt it and then safely survive lifting and handling as it travels across Canada and into the NEB’s building. Once the frame is fabricated we weld on the pencil rod armature, to which we’ll tie the diamond lath which will provide the reinforcement and backing for the fibreglass-reinforced concrete. This small section of the wall that Matt is welding on will be the order window for the food establishment that will be hidden behind the false front of the building.
