Crane lifting days are always exciting and busy. Today was no exception. Our good friend Greg Wishlow arrived promptly sat eight this morning. We had preassembled the base and legs of the waterwheel. We set the hub onto a temporary stand and then lifted and bolted half the wheel onto it. Once fastened we lifted that section into place and bolted to the base. He then allowed the half-wheel to rotate in a controlled fashion. The second half of the wheel was then lifted into position and bolted to the lower half. Everything went much smoother than I had imagined. The wheel was very close to perfect balance and after a spin and noting how everything fit it was time to disassemble the wheel once again. In less than two hours the pieces were back onto the shipping pallet once again. We can now finish the base with the theme work. I love it when a plan comes together so easily! Then it was time to relocate the crane for the big lift at the Hazelnut Inn.
