The artwork we produce is often created in collaboration with our customers. When I was in Nebraska, we decided to make three more signs and features for Vala’s Pumpkin Patch by summer’s end. One of the signs was for a new ride which they had dubbed Freya’s Egg Spinner. Freya is eight years old and the daughter of one of the farm owners. I was at their house for dinner one evening and while there I got to sit down with the ride’s namesake, Freya. Together we designed the sign. The font we used for her name is custom, patterned after her signature. Freya’s favourite colour is teal so we had to use that on the larger letters. Her second favourite colour is orange and that too was incorporated into the sign. After a quick search online we located a picture of a chick and the broken egg reminded Freya of the ride bucket that guests would spin in as they rode. We’ll sculpt a 3D version of that atop the sign. Freya decided the background of the sign would feature a brown woodgrain as a background. We began work on the sign today and I know Freya will be keeping a close eye on our progress, reading the posts as they are uploaded. Stay tuned for more pics in the coming days…
