Patterned textures

Through the years we have developed many original ideas to add value to our work. One such idea was was to design and test many different bitmaps which are used to create background textures on our routed projects. The routing software reads these bitmaps and then generates the CNC code to send to the router that reproduces the bitmaps dimensionally. We’ve created more than two hundred original bitmaps so far. We currently offer two collections to other sign makers to incorporate dimension in their CNC routed work. But bitmaps are a lot like fonts in that you can never have enough to choose from when you are looking for something unique. This means we are always developing new patterns for our projects and that new assortment is now almost large enough to be offered as a new collection. In the last weeks I’ve been working on editing the collection and adding a few new ones to complete the set. Soon we’ll put this new set to market. Stay tuned…

Fall colour

My evening bike rides are full of surprises, often at every turn. A couple of days ago I came across a beautiful rainbow and sunset (as well as all of the usual gorgeous scenery) on the same ride. The trees are beginning to sport their fall colours and the paths are littered with fallen leaves. It’s a fun time to ride!

Pizza to go.

Our client is considering a wood fired pizza restaurant on the farm and asked us to come up with a suitable key feature for the establishment. As always, I first went back to the primary story for inspiration. It’s all about the proud history of the farm. Every such enterprise has a boneyard out back full of many wonderful treasures. They never throw anything away for chances are some part might be needed in the future. I thought about what the farmer might use to build a wood fired pizza oven… and soon came up with the idea of converting an old wood fired steam tractor. It would’t take much… I did some quick searching for some authentic tractors and using those pictures for reference soon had what I needed. In reality, we would literally build the steam tractor around a commercial wood fired oven. It would make a great centrepiece and sign for a restaurant! I can taste the delicious pizza already!
