The vintage VW convertible armature is now complete. Matt and I made a great start on the tow truck chassis today. It doesn’t look like much like the concept as of yet but this solid foundation will make the rest of the cartoon truck much easier and quicker to fabricate. It’s at this stage we establish all of the proportions and character of the vehicle. The truck sports duel wheels in the rear and will have a 1940’s hand cranked style boom overflowing with fun detail. It’s going to be a very fun build! Stay tuned for more tomorrow…
My hero
We are a home based business. We’ve purposely operated that way since the humble beginnings of our business when our kids were very small, more than forty years ago. The thing I love the most about this arrangement is that while I still need to put in quality time at work I miss little of the action at home - especially the small but very important things that happen regularly. It is always immensely entertaining and my life is incredibly richer for it. Yesterday, I was in the house enjoying a delicious lunch (of leftovers) and amazingly, across the table from me was a superhero - enjoying her meal matter of factly. It’s not an every day occurrence that one gets have lunch with a super hero - except if you go home for lunch - every day.
Half a bug
It’s kinda fun to bend pieces of pencil rod and fashion them into the shape of a VW convertible. There’s a whole lot of steel and welds so far. If you squint your eyes a little the fun shape of the car is evident. Tomorrow we begin the hard part of this project and that is to make the second side exactly mirror the first.
