There’s a whole lot of painting going on in the shop these days. The two sections of the tallest portion of the facade are getting their second coat from Julianne. On Monday the painting crew will begin the blended colours to make them ready for the final glazes. All these giant pieces are going to look fabulous when they are assembled onsite at NEB’s Fun World in Oshawa, Ontario.
Hanging around
It was a crazy busy week in the workshop and Hazelnut Inn. Thankfully, the big projects are now all wrapped around the North Star suite. That still leaves a few thousand small details but each day we cross a few more off the list. With the construction dust all cleaned up it is time to hang curtains, pictures and all of the funky ‘artifacts’ we’ve been collecting or creating. Today Peter test-hung the picture frames. He’s still busy working on the fancy ‘historical’ artwork that will be slipped behind the glass. The beautifully painted walls are becoming perfectly cluttered with eye candy. Every piece is designed to further the story of the Hazelnut Inn. This place needs to be seen in person to appreciate the endless details. The open house will be held June 1, there’s only thirty-five sleeps to go…
Ready to finish
It was another big day in the shop as work continued on the NEB’s Fun World project. The rock work was sculpted on the three remaining sections. At the end of the workday, we welded in the sign supports to ready this bit of wall section for the very last sculpting tomorrow. This section of the wall will be weathered brickwork and the large dimensional NEB’s sign will then be fastened in once the painting is complete. Elsewhere in the shop, the painting crew has been busy laying on the paint. It is all coming together quickly as we approach the ship date in a few weeks. Stay tuned…
