Instant progress!

NEB’s Fun World is located in Oshawa, Ontario which is three time zones ahead of us here in British Columbia. This means they start their work long before we start our day locally. The NEB’s crew works on the installation of the entry facade before they open for business at 9:00 am. The owner sends me a progress pic each morning as they finish and I get to wake up seeing the ‘instant’ progress they make each day. Our team who laboured so hard for almost seven months on these pieces also enjoys seeing the daily progress. This morning they managed to wrestle six more of the heavy sections into place. I’ll bet their staff and regular customers do a double take as the view inside the entry changes so fast! This facade is dramatically changing the look and feel of NEB’s

The pieces are stacking up

It is awesome to see the giant sections of the NEB’s Fun World entry wall starting to be assembled. These pieces never were put together in our studio as there simply wasn’t enough room. NEB’s is tackling the tricky task with their forces and equipment. The individual sections weigh up to forty-six hundred pounds. When the twenty-two pieces are assembled the wall will measure fifty-three feet wide by almost forty feet at the tallest. We look forward to seeing more progress pictures as the pieces come together! Stay tuned…

First pieces off the new Fastcut CNC plasma

Today, it was time at last to put the new FastCut CNC plasma cutter to work. We had a good list of project files at the ready and plenty of sheet steel on hand. One of the many projects was the steel grate to surround the tree in the Hazelnut Inn courtyard. While we could have bought a ‘normal’ grate, with the new CNC machine, we could design a custom one to match the fancy CNC machined steel that was already inlaid into the doors, on the ventilation grills and elsewhere around the Inn. The new machine is so smooth and fast and the cuts are fabulous!
